Hello everyone. I’m so sorry I have been absent. Real life unfortunately got in the way. I am happy to announce however, that I will be releasing my latest contemporary romance, Always His Girl, on September 11th. The story centers around two best friends, and the impact the Iraq War has on them.
This story came to me one day as I was driving to take my daughter to dance. We were listening to Adele, who we both love, and the song “All I Ask” came on. There was something about that song that really stuck with me. Soon a story started forming in my head. I joked about writing it but then never did. That is until the opportunity came up for me to be in an anthology.
The anthology, To Aspen with Love, was set up to help a fellow author whose daughter was dealing with cancer. The idea was a collection of romance stories that would take place in the semi-small town of Aspen Springs, Oklahoma. The money earned would go toward Aspen’s medical expenses. Well, I was on board no matter what because cancer has touched my family several times and helping an author in the midst of it all was well worth it. Unfortunately, the anthology didn’t happen, but I had already finished the story.
I set my story aside, trying to decide what I wanted to do with it. It was too long to be a novella and too short to be a novel. Then, as fate would have it, I became bombarded with family emergencies that took me away from writing all together. Nothing, and I mean literally nothing was written for a good six months. When I brushed myself off, I pulled up the story again. I re-read it, and talked to my editor, and decided on places I could expand on. I ended up coming up with seven additional chapters and expanded a bit on the ones I already had written, since I was no longer tied to a specific word count. The end result is what you have here.
This tale is about a boy named Jensen, and a girl named Nevaeh (named after my granddaughter!). They meet as children, grow up together, but never crossed that line. One fateful day in September 2001, shifts the course of their lives forever. After the September 11th attack, Jensen decides to enlist, not thinking about how it will affect Nevaeh and the bond they share with one another. Can their friendship survive? Moreover, will this be enough to make Nevaeh tell him how she really feels?
Jensen is one of those happy go lucky guys who gets along with everyone. He’s a natural leader and protector. He and Nevaeh have been best friends since she moved to Aspen Springs. They attended high school together, and college. That is until he enlists in the Marines. Will he come back and if he does will he still be her Jensen?
Nevaeh is one of those girls who is quiet and not very social. In school she didn’t participate in many things. While she did have many friends, Jensen was her best friend. He meant the world to her. She loved him from afar, never willing to sacrifice their friendship for something more. when he enlists, she sees this as her only chance to tell him how she feels. Will he feel the same way?
I plan on donating my royalties for the remainder of this fiscal year to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). They are an advocacy and support organization. It was founded by an Iraq veteran in 2004. It’s a really great organization that provides advocacy, public awareness, case management and support. You can check them out HERE.
I enjoyed writing this story and hope you will enjoy reading it as well. Let me know what you think of it, and be sure to let your friends know as well. The more books sold, the more I can donate to IAVA.

Nevaeh had loved him all her life, but they were best friends, so she never acted on her feelings. When the towers went down and Jensen enlisted, her heart nearly broke in two. Was it too late to have what she always wanted from him and if she doesn’t act now, and she loses him, will she ever love again?
