I had this story in my head for about a year but it was a bit darker than I normally write. I actually considered writing it as a full length novel but didn’t think I had it in me to write this dark for a whole piece so I set it aside thinking I would just wait and make a decision about it at a later date. Cut to August. I attended IBF15 and met some amazing authors there. Afterwards, one of these authors, Laura Perez, asked people if they were interested in participating in a Thriller/Suspense anthology. This old story of mine immediately popped into my head again along with the thought that a short story was the perfect venue for it. I must admit it was interesting being in this space. I hope you not only enjoy this story but the other ones in the collection as well.
For Eileen Marshall life was simple enough. Teach, come home to her husband, wake up and do it again. She was thankful for the normalcy of it considering where she came from. But her simple and normal life comes to a screeching halt when new student Marcy Daniels enters her classroom. There is something odd and peculiar about the girl and in the corners of Eileen’s subconscious, dangerous. The events that follow prove just how dangerous Marcy is but are they real or only in Eileen’s mind? The truth of it all may very well destroy her like a piece of shattered glass, strewn across a linoleum floor.
Shattered Glass is part of a collection of stories in the Thrill of the Hunt Anthology which should be available by the end of the year.
The cover for my story was designed by Select-O-Grafix, LLC. Thank you Kelly for your work on this cover and the other individual covers in the anthology as well.
